I went from P2019 to P2022 and that was totally worth it. Especially when those features alternate (at from somewhat interesting, to "about time", with the occasional wow). It's not for Painter at one major upgrade per year. I'm not opposed to a subscription model if the value is there. I'm surprised they don't check out their competition, then make sure they have the basic usability features covered. They still have a lot to improve upon, including the price. And then you have gaping holes in usability. There are some brushes and workflows that just feel nice. I don't see why I'd move away from my current workflow, which is a combination of clip studio pro (one time forever payment) and rebelle 5 (much lower upgrade price).Īnd that's saying something, because I actually like a lot about Painter. If you do, save in a PSD format so you can access in other programs even if you lose access.Īlso, for this upgrade price. I highly suggest not moving to a subscription model for Painter. That's actually what forced me to move to Painter years ago, when Adobe Photoshop went to the cloud version. It's a way to force you to continue to pay. ![]() You immediately lose access to the app and all your files. That's why I hate subscriptions to these types of programs. Pretty sure the subscription, if cancelled, would cancel your access to the application.
